The Compliance Function is undertaking a multi-year maturity journey delivered through a portfolio of connected work packages. Multiple assigned work packages will progress in parallel, covering regulatory data and traceability, Standards, policies, assurance and other operating-model improvements. The portfolio requires disciplined planning, integrated governance and clear reporting while subject-matter experts retain ownership of the substantive outcomes.

Role summary

Provide senior project-management leadership across the assigned Compliance work packages and maintain an integrated view of scope, milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, decisions and delivery status.

The role will establish proportionate delivery discipline, support work-package leads to convert approved initiation documents into executable plans, and provide reliable portfolio reporting and escalation. Success requires work packages to remain coordinated, decisions to be taken at the right level and completion to be supported by clear evidence.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the integrated delivery plan and roadmap for the assigned work packages, including milestones, critical paths, dependencies, approvals and evidence of completion.
  • Work with accountable owners and subject-matter leads to confirm scope, outcomes, delivery blocks, responsibilities, resource assumptions and realistic target dates.
  • Establish and operate proportionate project governance, including planning reviews, decision forums, status reporting, change control, risk and issue management, and escalation routes.
  • Coordinate dependencies across work packages and transversal activities such as reporting, communications, training, tooling, data and enterprise risk-management alignment.
  • Track delivery against the approved baseline, test the quality and completeness of updates, and provide concise reporting on progress, forecasts, risks, decisions and recovery actions.
  • Identify capacity constraints, sequencing conflicts, data or technology limitations and governance delays early, and lead the development of practical responses.
  • Coordinate the work of business-analysis and change-management resources and ensure their outputs are integrated into work-package plans.

Required skills and experience

  • Substantial experience managing complex, multi-stream programmes or portfolios in a regulated, risk, compliance or governance environment.
  • Strong command of project planning, dependency management, governance, reporting, risk and issue management, change control and resource coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several concurrent work packages with different owners, delivery stages and dependency profiles.
  • Able to challenge plans constructively, distinguish substantive ownership from delivery accountability and drive timely decisions without taking over the subject-matter expert role.
  • Strong senior-stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to turn complex delivery information into clear decisions and concise reporting.
  • A recognised project or programme-management qualification is desirable.
